Blue Apple Motif — Glazed Stoneware
Late 20th Century, 3 Pieces
This nesting set of three stoneware mixing bowls features a classic American folk art aesthetic, characterized by hand-painted cobalt blue apple motifs and decorative sponged rims. Produced in the tradition of late 20th-century stoneware workshops, these pieces combine functional kitchen utility with a rustic country design. The heavy stoneware construction provides excellent durability and thermal retention for mixing and food preparation, finished in a creamy off-white glaze that complements the deep blue ornamentation.
• Hand-painted blue apple and leaf design with decorative blue sponged rim ornamentation
• Set of 3 nesting bowls in graduated sizes for compact storage
• Unglazed buff-colored stoneware bases; largest bowl features a partial handwritten maker's mark/initial on the side
• Measurements: Largest bowl is approximately 10 inches in diameter
Condition: Good vintage condition. The interior of the medium bowl shows a small surface chip or glaze pop. Bases show characteristic shelf wear and minor darkening consistent with age. No major structural cracks or repairs observed. Glazes remain glossy with light utensil marks from periodic use. One bowl has a dark surface line on the bottom, likely a kiln mark or surface scratch rather than a through-crack.
