SWITZERLAND 1925 MEETING INTERNATIONAL D'AVIATION REGISTERED AIRMAIL PS CARD TO BUTTES
1925 (May 29), 60c multi-issue registered event airmail combination on a 10c green William Tell postal stationery card, sent from the Geneva International Aviation Meeting via Zürich to Buttes. The card utilizes the prepaid 10c green stationery template, uprated on the face with three separate early airmail definitive issues: a 20c green alpine air stamp alongside a vertical pair of 15c red-brown carmine alpine air stamps. The 20c adhesive is tied by a violet double-box event cachet with a stylized biplane silhouette reading "MEETING / International / D'AVIATION / GENÈVE / 31 MAI - 1 JUIN", which is duplicated across the 15c pair. The adhesives are additionally secured by two separate strikes of a black circular "GENÈVE / 29.V.25.•16 / POSTE AÉRIENNE SUISSE" bridge datestamp, with a matching strike tying the grey paper airmail label ("Mit Flugpost / Par poste aérienne / Con posta aerea"). Features a custom printed event registration label reading "Genève / Aérodrome de Cointrin / No 633" and a two-line magenta town allocation strike reading "BUTTES / (Neuchâtel)". Hand-addressed to Monsieur Charles Duvanel, Buttes. The face displays a clear black circular "ZÜRICH / 30.V.25.– 8 / FLUGPOST" sorting bridge datestamp, while the reverse panel preserves a black circular "BUTTES / -1.VI.25.•10 / IV / NEUCHATEL" arrival bridge datestamp.
This 1925 card documents the specialized security tracking and event-day flight paths managed for the International Aviation Meeting at Geneva, demonstrating a highly complex combination of multiple airmail issues. Dispatched from the temporary airfield office at Cointrin on May 29, 1925, the total 60-centime supplementary franking satisfied the double-tiered schedule assigned to a registered domestic airmail card, covering the uniform 10-centime card rate, the 20-centime tracking fee, and the 40-centime operational flight surcharge. The card boarded the advance courier flight north to the primary Zürich hub for central sorting over the holiday weekend, subsequently entering the regional Jura lines to achieve delivery in Neuchâtel on June 1.
