The Somua MCG-4 served with the French army between 1935 and 1940 and was used primarily as a tractor for moving medium and heavy guns like the 105mm and 155m Canon de Schneider. They were also used as ammunition carriers and recovery tractors.

Following the fall of France in 1940, much of the captured French equipment was pressed into service by the occupying German Army where they were used as artillery and recovery tractors with some also converted as mortar carriers and self propelled guns. This S307(f) variant was stripped of its superstructure and then armoured in the same way as the Sd Kfz 251 mounting 16 French Brandt Mle 27/31 81mm mortars - "GrW 278(f)" - in two rows with 8 on each frame to provide saturation fire to an area. It was developed by Baukommando Becker under the supervision of Major Alfred Becker and deployed by German units in the defence of Normandy. An estimated 36 vehicles were produced.

The kit is a 3D printed kit with plenty detail and only 5 parts including the hull, 2 tracks and 2 wheels.

Ideal for wargaming or for display this brand new kit is a beauty. Not to be missed.
