Up for sale is a vintage Omega Constellation reference 14900-62 SC featuring the desirable pie pan dial configuration and automatic chronometer movement caliber 551.
The watch is currently running and presents very well on the wrist. The case retains its classic twisted lug Constellation profile with visible observatory medallion on the caseback. Movement serial dates production to the early 1960s.
Dial: The dial has a very attractive textured/sparkle (“stardust”) appearance. After purchase I spent considerable time comparing this example against known originals and discussing it with collectors and vintage Omega specialists. Consensus appears to be that this is an original Omega dial that has been professionally restored/refinished at some point in its life rather than a modern fake/reproduction dial. Please examine photos carefully and make your own determination, as vintage dial originality is often debated heavily within the collector community.
Features:
* Omega caliber 551 automatic chronometer movement * Reference 14900-62 SC * Pie pan Constellation dial * Applied Omega logo and markers * Stainless steel case * Observatory caseback medallion * Vintage Omega presentation box included * Brown leather strap shown included
Condition: Vintage pre-owned condition with normal wear consistent with age. Case shows signs of prior polishing/use. Hands show aging/patina. Crystal has light wear. Service history is unknown to me. I have not timed the watch for accuracy over extended periods, so a future service should always be assumed with vintage watches.
This is a beautiful vintage Constellation that wears extremely well and has a lot of vintage character. Sold as-is due to age.
