This nifty cover(envelope has some noticeable stains here and there on the front, and wear and tear around its edges, including a small tear; back flap is intact) was sent on December 12, 1888, from New York City(a neat, duplex CDS!), New York, to a Mr. Frank H. Davis, "Whig" Office, Bangor(a pretty good, receiving CDS: 12/13/88), Maine! The "Whig," was a local, daily newspaper in Bangor that was originally more pro-Whig in its outlook. As for the Sturtevant House, it was a well-known hotel in New York City that opened in 1871! Most of its clientele were quite wealthy! As for the green, 2-Cent, U.S. definitive, though it has a few, shorter perfs at its right side, overall, it's in good condition! Noted imperfections aside, this cover remains a nifty piece of U.S. newspaper postal history with a connection to the Sturtevant House in NYC!
