Jane Fonda, daughter of Henry Fonda, recently made an impressive Broadway debut in the central role of “There Was a Little Girl,” which had a brief run. In her next stage appearance, she will be starred in “No Concern of Mine.” Written by Jeremy Kingston, the comedy-drama will be tested July 11 at the Westport (Conn.) Country Playhouse. Another week’s stand elsewhere will follow, but it had not been scheduled yesterday. An option on the script has been taken by Henry T. Weinstein and Laurence Feldman. Besides operating the Westport house, they will also present summer attractions at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, N. J. Mr. Kingston’s play was put on two years ago in London for an engagement of more than three months. Variety’s reviewer described the author as a new writer who “shows encouraging talent.” Mr. Kingston was said to have “a shrewd sense of humor, the knack of raising a laugh by pertinent observation and skill in etching characters.”

Set in a Basement

The action, in a Bohemian atmosphere, develops in a West London basement room, shared by a brother and sister, both drama students, and a writer friend. The cast requires three women and four men. Besides Miss Fonda, the company will include Geoffrey Horne and Hope Cameron. The offering will be staged by Andreas Voutsinas, an actor, in his directorial bow. If all goes well, the performance will be taped for television’s “Play of the Week,” of which Mr. Weinstein is one of the producers.
