A collectible 1987 example from Block Spal’s iconic “Eat ’N’ Drink” diner series, designed by Rodney A. Greenblat and produced in Portugal.
This coordinated four-piece grouping includes:
• Two 10.5” dinner plates
• Two 8” salad plates
The bold roadside “EAT” sign, checkerboard detailing, stylized diner façade, and pastel sky capture the playful postmodern energy of late-1980s design. Pieces from this series have developed a devoted following among collectors of Memphis-era and graphic design tableware.
Offered here as a curated, cohesive set — not pieced out — making it ideal for collectors, display, or design-forward entertaining.
Condition
Overall, the set presents beautifully with bright color, crisp graphics, and glossy finish.
• The two 8” salad plates show light surface wear consistent with gentle vintage use (minor utensil marks visible under angled light).
• One salad plate has a small chip to the inner foot rim on the underside. It is not visible from the display side and does not affect stability.
• One 10.5” dinner plate has a small flea bite to the outer rim — minor and difficult to notice unless closely inspected.
No cracks. No repairs. Structurally sound.
All condition details are shown clearly in photographs for transparency.
A distinctive 1987 graphic design statement — increasingly appreciated by collectors who value the playful architectural influence and unmistakable late-80s aesthetic of this series.
