The Andalucia Xpresión Flugel
Andalucia Musical Instruments is a company based in Huntington Beach, California, specializing in crafting unique musical instruments with an emphasis on innovative design and traditional assembly methods. Over the years the Andalucia has been manufactured with quality components sourced from at least three continents.
Founder and designer Vance Hu sought to emulate the popular American flugelhorn sound. From Andalucia’s “Phase II” series, here is the Xpresión:
- 0.410” / 10.4 mm traditional bore
- 6” Dia. one piece yellow brass bell
- Top-sprung pistons
- Deluxe finger buttons
- 3rd Slide trigger
- Two water keys
- Bright silver plate with gold plated trim
It’s a cool looking and good playing flugelhorn. Great tone for soloing in your own voice, and blends well in a section.
Vance isn’t just a brass enthusiast, he is into fast cars and cigars. His car collection includes several models he has occasionally loaned to big budget productions like the Fast & Furious franchise; and he is also a knowledgeable importer of fine cigars.
You know else who likes cigars? Arturo Sandoval. He and Vance are cigar pals, and Arturo is a fan of the Andalucia trumpets. It’s no secret that he performs with them consistently. Arturo play tests many of Vance’s prototypes, and has offered valuable occasional creative input into their designs.
This is considered “new old stock”. No case included, but should fit most standard flugelhorn cases or gig bags. If you are in the Los Angeles area, we can talk about hard case options.
This fine brasswind has undergone a professional inspection prior to listing. I am happy to answer any questions or provide more pictures. All sales final.
