Sungnyemun (崇禮門), also known as Namdaemun (South Gate), is Korea's National Treasure No. 1 — the oldest and most significant wooden gate in Seoul, originally built in 1398 during the Joseon Dynasty. After the devastating fire of 2008, Sungnyemun was painstakingly restored over 5 years and reopened in 2013, making it one of the most emotionally significant cultural monuments in Korean history.
This Oxford Block set recreates Sungnyemun in extraordinary detail with 1,419 interlocking pieces. The two-tiered wooden pavilion (mungnu) sits atop the iconic stone arched base, with traditional dancheong (multi-colored paintwork) patterns, curved eaves, and tile roofing faithfully represented. The granite fortress wall extends on both sides with authentic stonework texture.
LEGO released a Sungnyemun Architecture set (21016) in 2012 with 325 pieces. That set has been retired for years and now sells for $200-$500+ on the secondary market.
