How to use

Wash and dry hands

Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water. Dry completely before testing — moisture can affect the accuracy of the blood sample.

Insert the test strip

Insert the grey end of a Contour Plus test strip firmly into your Contour Plus ONE, Elite, or compatible meter. The meter will switch on automatically.

Prepare the blood sample

Use a lancing device to obtain a small blood sample from the side of a fingertip. Wipe away the first drop and allow a fresh drop to form.

Apply blood to the strip

Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop and allow the Sip-In™ technology to draw in the sample automatically. Apply within 5 seconds of preparing the sample. If the sample is insufficient, you have 30 seconds to apply more blood to the same strip (Second-Chance® sampling).

Read the result

Wait for the meter to beep and display your blood glucose result — typically within 5 seconds. The meter will indicate if the reading is in range, low, or high using the smartCOLOUR™ indicator.

Remove & dispose

Remove the used test strip from the meter and dispose of it safely in a sharps container or as directed by your local waste disposal guidelines. Do not reuse test strips.

Safety & storage guidelines

Use a clean, dry strip

Only use strips that are clean and dry. Damaged or contaminated strips may give inaccurate readings.

Apply sample within 5 seconds

Apply the blood sample within 5 seconds of preparing the lancet site for best results.

Check expiry date

Never use strips past their expiration date — expired strips may produce inaccurate blood glucose results.

Do not overfill

Apply only the required sample amount. Overfilling the strip does not improve accuracy and may cause errors.

Avoid heat & sunlight

Store away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and humidity. Keep between 15–30°C (59–86°F).

Keep in original container

Always store strips in the original sealed vial with the cap firmly closed after each use.

Keep out of reach of children

Store in a safe location away from children. Lancets and used strips are sharps — dispose of responsibly.

Single use only

Each test strip is for single use only. Never reuse a test strip — this may cause inaccurate results and infection risk.
