Upgrade the factory backlighting in your instrument cluster with this DIY LED replacement kit. These LEDs are designed to fit the factory circuit board used in GMT900 platform clusters.

You will need the following tools for installation:
Fine-tip soldering iron
No-clean flux and quality electrical solder (NOT plumbing type)
Precision tweezers
Plastic pry tool or similar
These LEDs are very small surface-mount components so proper tools are strongly recommended.
Recommended Skill Level: Intermediate electronics / soldering experience.
Installation requires:
Removing gauge needles
Desoldering factory LEDs
Installing new surface-mount LEDs
If you are not comfortable performing this type of work, professional installation is recommended.
A number of YouTube videos demonstrate this process visually. Below is a simplified overview:
Remove the instrument cluster from the vehicle.
Remove the four silver screws on the back of the cluster.
Release the black push tabs to remove the gauge lens assembly.
Carefully remove the gauge needles using a plastic pry tool.
Remove the white midplate by releasing the clips.
Apply flux to the 17 backlighting LEDs.
Desolder the factory LEDs.
Install the new LEDs in the correct orientation.
Reassemble the cluster.
Test the cluster with ignition on before completing installation.
Verify needle accuracy.
Reinstall the cluster in the vehicle.
Each LED has a notched side indicating the negative terminal.
Match the notched side to the negative marking in the provided instructions.
