Upgrade the factory backlighting in your instrument cluster with this DIY LED replacement kit. These LEDs are designed to fit the factory circuit board used in GMT900 platform clusters.

Basic Installation Overview

A number of YouTube videos demonstrate this process visually. Below is a simplified overview:

  1. Remove the instrument cluster from the vehicle.

  2. Remove the four silver screws on the back of the cluster.

  3. Release the black push tabs to remove the gauge lens assembly.

  4. Carefully remove the gauge needles using a plastic pry tool.

  5. Remove the white midplate by releasing the clips.

  6. Apply flux to the 17 backlighting LEDs.

  7. Desolder the factory LEDs.

  8. Install the new LEDs in the correct orientation.

  9. Reassemble the cluster.

  10. Test the cluster with ignition on before completing installation.

  11. Verify needle accuracy.

  12. Reinstall the cluster in the vehicle.


LED Orientation

Each LED has a notched side indicating the negative terminal.

Match the notched side to the negative marking in the provided instructions.
