Marcel Proust : In Search Of Lost Time. Allen Lane Box Set. Published 2002
consisting of 6 cloth-bound hardback volumes with dust-jackets housed in a box

DESCRIPTION:

In 2002, Allen Lane (an imprint of Penguin Books) published a landmark six-volume boxed set of Marcel Proust's In Search of Lost Time. This edition is highly regarded as the first major new translation into English since the original Scott Moncrieff version, featuring a different translator for each volume under the general editorship of Christopher Prendergast. This specific set is thus considered a "first" edition for this particular translation and binding style. Each volume features a different translator including Lydia Davis for Swann's Way, James Grieve, MarkTreharne, John Sturrock, Carol Clark with Peter Collier and Ian Patterson.

FORMAT:

The set consists of six hardcover volumes in black cloth with gilt lettering, each with a dustjacket featuring details of paintings by Whistler, Prinet, Morison, Homer, Etcheverry and housed in a specially designed outer slipcase featuring a painting by Picasso on the rear panel.

CONDITION:

This set is in excellent overall USED condition. Books themselves are near perfect and unmarked internally. One volume has a small indentation to the DJ at rear near spine (see photo) else no other major wear or tear to any volume. The outer slipcase/box is showing some wear especially around edges with a scratch under box and larger tear along edge at lower rear. However box is not split and all wear is pretty much surface from storage over several years.

Please see photos for closer detail as they form part of the description. Any more questions or queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Happy to accept offers for this set and others from my collection.
