The Waldent Lead Apron & Thyroid Shield Collar is a BARC-certified radiation protection system designed for use during dental and medical X-ray imaging procedures. Constructed of a durable thin rubber exterior with an internal lead layer, the apron absorbs 90–95% of scattered radiation, significantly reducing exposure to vital organs including the chest, abdomen, and pelvis.

Directions for use

Wear the lead apron

Place the lead apron over your shoulders, ensuring it covers the chest, abdomen, and pelvic areas completely. Fasten the Velcro straps securely at the sides.

Position the thyroid shield collar

Wrap the thyroid collar around the neck and position it to fully cover the thyroid area. Ensure it sits snugly without restricting breathing or movement.

Adjust for comfort & fit

Use the weight adjuster to shift load to the hips for reduced shoulder strain. Ensure both the apron and collar fit comfortably and securely without restricting movement or posture.

Verify coverage before X-ray

Confirm that the lead apron provides adequate coverage of the torso and that the thyroid collar fully protects the thyroid gland before initiating X-ray exposure.

Remove & store after use

After the procedure, carefully remove the apron and collar. Hang the apron on the included hanger — never fold it, as folding can crack the internal lead layer. Store in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight.
