This nifty, uncommon, satirical(cartoon protesting the zollverein(German Customs Union) and their policies that, "threatened" free trade was originally published in the "Punch Magazine!") post card(w/some stains on either side, and minor creases here and there around its edges) was sent between members of the Rees Family a Levantine Family of Smyrna, Turkey! It was sent on June 16, 1907, from Harrow, England, to a Miss Marjory Lillister Rees, in care of T. Bowen Rees, Smyrna(a superb, receiving CDS from the British P.O. in Smyrna!), Asia Minor, Turkey! T. Bowen Rees was the Smyrna representative of the America-Levant Line, while his own firm was Messrs’ T. Bowen Rees & Co. Ltd. The American-Levant Line had scheduled services between New York, Philadelphia and the ports of the Eastern Mediterranean. The sender appears to have been the older brother of marjory, a John Langdon Rees! As for the vertical pair of yellow-green, 0.5p British definitives, it's in fine condition! Noted imperfections aside, this post card remains a neat, unique piece of British and Turkish postal history connected to the "Punch Magazine" free trade issues of the period, and the Rees Family, a well-known Levantine clan!
