The PV2500 is NOT a surge protector but a VOLTAGE REGULATOR. Unlike surge protection which uses joules to absorb spikes in electricity to protect all devices that are plugged into it, the PV2500 is so different. UNLIKE surge which burns out after a spike, the PV2500 NEVER burns out. It senses incoming voltage and automatically shuts off power to everything plugged into it when the voltage goes over 135 volts. When it drops below 135 volts it automatically restores power to the PV2500. High voltage can damage or destroy our valuable equipment such as computers, gaming, home theater, audio systems and charging devices, but so can LOW voltages. The P2500 shuts down low voltages below 100 volts and reconnects when it once again goes over 100 volts
