Based on Japanese head data SWANS' products are designed to suit Japanese people and utilize light-control technology cultivated over more than 100 years of history. Their products continue to be popular with numerous top athletes both in Japan and overseas. [Visible Light Transmittance] A numerical value representing the amount of light that passes through a lens. The reading is displayed on a scale of 0% to 100% with 100% representing the naked eye. The lower the number the darker the lens meaning it blocks out light. [What is polycarbonate] The polycarbonate used in SWANS sunglasses is a resin with excellent impact resistance and transparency and is also used in aircraft windshields and space suit helmets. Its impact resistance makes it difficult to break and even if it does break it won't shatter making it a highly safe material for sports sunglasses lenses. SWANS uses its own unique scratch-resistant Petroid Lens based on this polycarbonate.
