Hungary: Medal for the Winners of the Governor's Prize for Song 1929. Bronze medal issued by the fascist Hungarian government of Admiral and Regent Miklos Horthy to winners of Hungarian folk singing contest in Debreczen, in 1929. Horthy's profile is on the obverse of the medal. Debreczen is Hungary's second largest city after Budapest, and is one of the Hungary's most important cultural centers. These folk-singing contests were held in Hungary each year during the 1920's and 1930's. The reverse of the medal is engraved in fine cursive script to "Leokesvoni Lajos." The medal is in very fine or better condition, with some small spots of verdigris on the reverse side; on a correct replacement ribbon of the Hungarian national colors.
