THIS IS A HALF LEATHER BOUND FIRST PRINTING OF THE 1909 J. M. DENT EDITION IN ENGLAND AND E.P DUTTON IN THE US. WHILE IT IS NOT THE FIRST EDITION OF GULLIVER'S TRAVELS, IT IS THE FIRST EDITION WITH THE COLOR ILLUSTRATIONS OF ARTHUR RACKHAM (PHOTO 3)

IT HAS 12 COLOR PLATES AND ADDITIONAL LINE DRAWINGS AND A COUPLE OF BLACK AND WHITE FULL PAGE PLATES. ART WORK IS BY ARTHUR RACKHAM

LEATHER HAS SOME SURFACE WEAR BUT IS STRONG AND STABLE. (PHOTO 1,8,12)

LEATHER HAS SCUFFS AND STAINING WITH THE TOP EDGE OF THE SPINE SHOWING A CHIP TO THE LEATHER. (PHOTO 8 & 9)

THE INTERIOR OF THE BOOK IS NEAR FINE ONCE YOU GET PAST THE LARGE OWNER NAME WRITTEN ON THE FRONT END PAPER. (PHOTO 10)

INTERIOR HAS AGE RELATED PAPER TONING AND THE OCCASIONAL ODD SPOT. A FEW VERY MINOR IMPERFECTIONS TO A STRAY LEAF.

NO TEARS, NO CREASES, NO BINDING SPLITS, NO NOTED REPAIRS AND NO WRITING OTHER THAN THE OWNER NAME. THERE IS NO DUST JACKET, THOUGH I DOUBT ONE EVER EXISTED IN A LEATHER SPINE VERSION. END PAPERS ARE PLAIN AND BOARDS ARE BOWED OUT SLIGHTLY (PHOTO 11). MINOR RUBBING WEAR TO BOARD CORNERS BUT NO WEAR THROUGH.

If you utilize the Priority Mail padded envelope method, the book will be boxed first and then placed inside the envelope. Given the current status of the treatment of media mail, this method is highly recommended.

I utilize a third party EBAY supplied shipper for international sales. This is part of the Global Shipping Program. Please note the actual shipping cost before purchasing. That is not my shipping fee and I neither receive it nor know what the amount is. I have no control over import fees that may be charged. Please do not commit to "buy it now" until you have seen the shipping amount that you will be charged. Thank you.

For International Buyers:  Media Mail shipments only. Please note that, although you are likely paying very high shipping costs to have this item sent to you, I am not charging those costs. In the case of books, I utilize "media mail" to get the box to the third party shipper. "Media mail" is a very SLOW speed mailing process reserved for books and records that are potentially very heavy. If you can not wait for my shipment to reach the third party shipper at a very slow pace, please contact me before purchasing and I can add a faster (and more expensive) alternative to the listing to get the item to the third party shipper.

PLEASE NOTE: For book sales, I virtually always include a vinyl bag tightly wrapped on the exterior. This is an attempt to prevent any USPS employee from opening the package for inspection as it would be time consuming for them to repackage it. This is done simply because my packaging is done more carefully than their repackaging and also to protect the book from the elements. The vinyl bag covers cardboard protection and you can simply cut the  bag open (carefully) and remove the contents. The cardboard protection is also typically held with tape and cutting in the obvious places will allow the cardboard to pop right open, exposing the book (in another protective vinyl bag). Using this method, you should be able to open any book I send in under a minute. No "buzz saw" is required.  Thank you
