A rare etching "From Copper Nose Hill", so titled in pencil, numbered 3/25, and signed in pencil by important Pennsylvania impressionist, New Hope School artist Daniel Garber (1880-1958). Measurements inside the mat are 8 1/4" by 6" (9" by 12 1/2" in simple old strip wood frame). The artist also wrote in pencil "DB Imp." meaning that he personally pulled the print, and he also wrote "Final State". ***There are significant condition issues.*** As seen, the print has greatly darkened with oxidation over time and will need to be professionally cleaned/deacidified. The top right corner of the brittle old paper has torn/detached, (though, edges match up, and the crack is completely in the margin and not in the image) and will need to be repaired/stabilized. There is a small light spot at left as seen. The original dark wood strip frame in which found has been retained. Garber was born in Indiana and received art training in Cincinnati, becoming associated with the so-called "Duveneck Boys", followers of Frank Duveneck. In Pennsylvania he blossomed into a highly important artist, painting the Delaware River valley area of Bucks County centering on Lumberville, New Hope, and Lambertville. Major paintings sell at auctions of the finest American paintings into the many hundreds of thousands of dollars.
