Here is an RARE and absolutely STUNNING, SUPER MINT Barclay Samragd from 1940 in Black Celluloid!! One of the last pens made by Karel Barth's original company in Prague that made the Barclay name so legendary in the pen world. This was still made before Barclay was nationalised and put under the Centropen brand. Unlike the later production this is a fully celluloid pen and it shows! It's not Ebonite. These were amazingly crafted and are piston fillers. ''Smaragd'' which literally means Emerald in Czech, were Barclay's piston fillers. The style is similar to the 1302 and other pens but they are two totally different pens. Barclay ofcourse, was well known for its luxury pens. This is af fully size large thick pen and is in MINT condition! Being made in 1940. this originally had a steel nib, its included in the auction with this pen. Sometime in late the 1950s the pen came in possession of its amazing and current 14K Gold flex nib from Soennecken....and it's really something! The Black Smaragds are the rarest, they are almost always seen in a striated coloured celluloid.. typically with the characteristic one band cap. An absolute gem to behold and use!

This is a super feather touch nib, its so easily writes! The bold EXTRA FINE tip has rich and wet ink flow and soft flex too in the nib....butter smooth writing!
