SEATTLE (AP) - Freshman Paul Arnold scored on an 80-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter as Washington completed its regular season by beating Washington State 24-14 Saturday in the Apple Cup.
The Huskies (7-4, 6-2) finished second in the Pac-10 behind Stanford (7-1), which clinched the conference title and Rose bowl bid by beating California 31-13.
A Stanford loss would have put Washington in the Rose Bowl because the Huskies beat the Cardinal three weeks ago.
Washington, upset at UCLA last week, goes to the Holiday Bowl at San Diego on Dec. 29 or the Sun Bowl at El Paso, Texas, on Dec. 31.
