Annalee Dolls – A New Hampshire Tradition Since 1934 

Annalee Dolls began in the 1930s when Annalee Thorndike hand-painted whimsical felt doll faces in her Meredith, New Hampshire home. After her family’s chicken farm closed in the 1950s, Annalee turned her childhood hobby into a small cottage business, creating dolls inspired by her sons’ everyday activities.

By the 1970s, Annalee became known for her iconic “Mouse for Every House” figures, each with its own mischievous expression and personality. The 1980s marked the start of the true collectability era, with seasonal Santas, elves, mice, and animals becoming beloved holiday décor items.

Annalee believed in creating dolls that make people smile—and that trademark cheerful expression continues to define the brand today.
