Downtown at the Ritz, on 11th Street, between Third and Fourth Avenues, Joan Jett and her hard-rocking Blackhearts will perform around midnight. Again, the late show is a better bet, with Kid Creole and the Coconuts, a wonderfully tuneful blend of Caribbean rhythms, disco-funk and 1940's pop, scheduled to go on sometime after 3 A.M. Tickets for the Ritz's New Year's Eve shows are $12 (228-8888). Kid Creole and the Coconuts will also be at the Ritz on Friday and Saturday.
