Stig Lindberg Karneval Series Block Vase - Rare Vintage Gustavsberg Art Piece
This is a rare block-shaped vase designed by Stig Lindberg 1916-1982, one of Swedens most influential ceramic artists of the 20th century. His popularity in Japan also grew after he designed the wrapping paper for Seibu Department Store in 1959.
This piece belongs to the Karneval series, created between 1958 and 1962, consisting of 32 unique art items produced by Gustavsberg. Each work in this series showcases imaginative and colorful motifs that represent mid-century Scandinavian design.
The Karneval series pieces are earthenware coated with a bluish-white tin glaze and hand-painted in bright colors. This block-shaped vase is considered one of the rarer forms in the collection.
Purchased in 2008 at ANGERS ravissant Herbis Plaza Osaka Japan.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition overall, with one small chip-like mark. Please check the photos.
