Picking the right size and grit

• For Large Bore Sizes - Larger than 90mm+: Pick a Hone ¼" / 3-6mm larger than the measured size of your cylinder bore.
• For Medium Bore Sizes - 60mm to 90mm: Pick a Hone 2-4mm larger than the measured size of your cylinder bore.
• For Small Bore Sizes - Less than 60mm: Pick a Hone 1-3mm larger than the measured size of your cylinder bore.

Both 105mm & 108mm hones are suitable for typical V8 engines with 4" cylinder bores.

240 Grit is suitable for most typical applications / classic / old school engines.

320 Grit is suitable for most modern engine applications where a finer finish is required.

Always pick a hone larger than the bore size - i.e. do not pick a 80mm hone for a 80mm bore, choose 83mm.

Note: Please refer to your engine & ring manufacturer to ensure a perfect pick.

Important Notes (!)

• These tools are intended for professional use and must be used with honing oil / suitable lubricant.
• After honing it is critical to clean the cylinder thoroughly with solvent, soap & water and wipe with ATF to check for any grit that may remain embedded in the freshly honed surface.
