This photograph is GREAT. What more, it is very, very RARE! This historic original 1935 glossy photo shows legendary boxer Buddy Baer with the famed Midget Song and Dance Team of Olive Brasno and her brother George. One of the best poses! We believe it was taken to promote a comedic performance held at a party given by the newspaper that featured Baer and the two Brasno siblings. A bit of trivia. Olive, who also acted in films, turned down an offer to appear in "The Wizard Of Oz" because she earned more money on the Vaudeville circuit. However, her husband Gus Wayne did appear as one of the Munchkin soldiers in the film. Olive and her brother George acted in numerous other movies: " The Mighty Barnum", "Little Miss Broadway", "Charlie Chan at the Circus" and "Carnival", etc. We should mention that the caption on back of the photo mistakenly spelled Brasno as "Brosno". Boxer Buddy Baer was the younger brother of legendary prize fighting champion Max Baer. Known as a powerful puncher who may not have been the swiftest in the ring, the six foot five inch Buddy eventually did a stint as a professional wrestler (performing as the "Cardiff Giant") before turning to acting. He appeared in numerous films and television shows: "Quo Vadis", "Giant from the Unknown", "Abbott & Costello's Jack and the Beanstalk" and "The Big Sky", etc. This is an authentic 1935 press photograph. And it also happens to be quite unusual in format. Unlike the majority of press photos which measure 8 x 10 inches (or even smaller), this picture measures approximately 7 x 12 ¼ inches. It came straight from the art director's desk as there is some original hand re-touching necessary for publication. It should be noted that as an EXTRA BONUS, a copy of the actual newspaper clipping is pasted onto the backside of the photo. This item is in pretty good vintage condition with only some normal surface wear expected from an antique press photo. Minor in our view. This is the original picture from the 1935.
