Very thick heavy glass.  Full diameter of light shade is 11.5 inches.  Diameter across opening is actually 9.75 inches.  Intended a replacement for a 10 inch light fixture.  This light shade has a beautiful grape vine style design embossed in the glass.  Also has a decorative middle brass stem that adds extra detail.  Please note this light shade needs some extra cleaning.  We did some light scrubbing/cleaning.  However some steel wool and/or scrub pads will help clean off some of the caked on dust/dirt.  No chips or cracks on the piece.
