This black/silver model released in 2002 is based on the black model from the 1980s. It features a high-quality resin body and a transparent green ink window. Instead of gold plating palladium plating gives the black/silver Souverän a unique shine. The M405 nib is made of 14k gold with a rhodium finish and is hand-checked for quality. ---Pelikan Souverän--- "Souverän" is a German word meaning "excellent" or "outstanding" and this is Pelikan's signature series of writing instruments. Featuring a piston-filling mechanism the pen body is available in five sizes and a wide range of 6 to 10 nib options to suit any taste or purpose. The green stripe body color is the signature color of Pelikan fountain pens but a variety of other colors are also available including black barrels blue stripes Bordeaux and white (400 only).
