APPLICATION:

A new replacement Clutch Dog - 6 jaws or dogs on the forward side, and 3 jaws or dogs on the reverse side - for some 90-120 hp 96-97 Force Outboards and many 50-125 hp Mercury 3 cyl. and 4 cyl. outboard motors, model years vary.

ADVANTAGES:

This type of clutch is made of two round plates, one fixed to the driver shaft or the gear and other on the shaft being driven

When the dog clutch reaches the gear, the protrusions of the dog clutch fit into the recesses of the gear and hence forming a strong mechanical coupling and transferring the rotational motion from lay shaft to main shaft.

SUGGESTION: Clutch dogs can last from 10,000 – 30,000 miles. It is advised to replace clutch dogs after every 60,000 miles of usage.
