The Egasky LPDA 4G/5G Directional Antenna is a high-performance solution for improving mobile and wireless connectivity across Australia. It covers all major GSM, UMTS, LTE, 3G, 4G, and most 5G bands (excluding mmWave), and is compatible with Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone networks. Suitable for WiFi routers, signal boosters, and LoRa IoT 915MHz applications. The Egasky EGLPDA-0637-D8/9/9 is a wide-band log-periodic directional antenna covering major GSM, UMTS, LTE, 3G, 4G, and 5G bands across Australia. It supports WiFi, LoRa IoT, and RFID systems — reducing the need for multiple antennas.

Performance Notes

Two antennas can roughly double throughput (~×1.5–1.8). A single antenna works for routers with one port — connect to the main port. This antenna amplifies received signal but does not create coverage where none exists.

Except for variant 1 (Only Antenna), each cable variation includes: 1 × RF coaxial cable, 2 × cable ties, 1 × adapter connector (adapter depends on the selected variant).

These accessories assist a smooth outdoor connection and make the antenna compatible with 5G/4G/LTE modems, MiFi hotspots, routers, cellular signal boosters/amplifiers, LoRaWAN gateways, IoT end-nodes and RFID UHF readers.

Cable Upgrades — LMR200 & LMR240

To reduce signal loss and improve durability we use low-loss coaxials:

  • LMR200 (used for 3m / 5m cable options): double-layer aluminium foil + tinned copper braid for excellent shielding and flexibility — ideal for short runs and neat installations.
  • LMR240 (used for 10m option): thicker dielectric, heavier braid and a more robust outer jacket for extended runs and outdoor durability.

Low-loss performance (approx. at 900 MHz):

  • LMR200 — 3 m (≈10ft): ~0.89 dB attenuation
  • LMR200 — 5 m (≈16ft): ~1.49 dB attenuation
  • LMR240 — 10 m (≈33ft): ~2.54 dB attenuation

Recommendation: Shorter cable lengths minimise signal loss — choose the shortest practical length for your installation. Use LMR200 for runs up to ~5 m; use LMR240 for longer runs (≈10 m) where durability and slightly higher shielding are required.

Directional antennas transmit signals farther in a fixed direction. Correct alignment during installation is very important.

Single point transmission (example): For boosting mobile signals, the antenna must be pointed toward the cell tower. See the illustrations below for guidance:

If you are unsure of the correct cell tower direction, tools such as OpenSignal, Cell Tower Locator or operator coverage maps can help identify the nearest tower.

Multipoint transmission (example): For Helium hotspots and similar multipoint use cases, consult the radiation pattern — horizontal beamwidth is approximately 90°. If your location resembles positions labeled B or C in Helium Explorer (i.e. nearby hotspots lie in one direction), pointing the antenna toward that cluster will increase witness opportunities.

  • Place the antenna as high as practical and aim it toward the desired signal source.
  • Ensure clear Line of Sight (LoS) where possible — avoid trees, large buildings and other obstructions.
  • Use appropriate waterproofing on connectors for outdoor exposure.
  • Tighten mounts and brackets securely to prevent movement in wind.
  • When using long cable runs, be aware of increased loss. Use LMR240 for durability on longer runs.
