A superb quick build kit of the Russian BMP-1P Infantry Fighting Vehicle which includes two vehicles in the box.

The BMP-1 is an amphibious tracked infantry fighting vehicle - the first one to be mass produced. The design combines features of an APC with that of a light tank allowing infantry to operate from the relative safety of the BMP's protected interior increasing infantry mobility and firepower.

The BMP-1 was armed with a 73mm 2A28 Grom low pressure smooth-bore short recoil semi automatic gun as well as a 7.62mm PKT machine gun.

Following experience gained from the 1973 Yom Kippur war, the BMP-1 was updated as the BMP-1P. A pintle mounted 9P135M launcher was added capable of firing 9M113 ""Konkurs"" and 9M113M ""Konkurs-M"" anti tank guided missiles. In addition, air defence was improved by replacing the two 9M32 ""Strela-2"" with two 9M32M ""Strela-2M"". Additional machine gun firing ports were also added for defence. The BMP-1P was a stop gap measure to extend the BMP-1 service although they were largely replaced in front-line service by BMP-2 by the late 1980s.

These are fairly basic but well detailed kits which make them ideal for the novice, the wargamer or the modeller who enjoys playing with conversions. There are around 70-80 parts to each kit.
