This steam locomotive was built in 1912 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in the United States. Originally delivered to the Fuji-Minobu Railway, it began service in 1913 on the line between Fuji and Omiya-machi, now known as Fujinomiya. After being retired from railway service, it was transferred in 1936 to the NKK Tsurumi Works (now JFE Engineering Corporation, Tsurumi Works) for industrial use. In 1973, the locomotive was relocated to the Museum Meiji-Mura in Aichi Prefecture, where it became part of the museum’s operating heritage fleet. In July 2023, it was sent out for a full overhaul. The restoration was completed in 2025, and the locomotive has since returned to Meiji-Mura, where it has resumed regular operation.
