Oribe Stone Lantern
This type of lantern is said to have been created by Shigenori Furuta, better known as Furuta Oribe,
a military commander and tea master active from the Sengoku period to the early Edo period.
For that reason, it is called an Oribe Stone Lantern.
This product is handmade from rough stone quarried in Japan. The stone is first machine-cut to the approximate maximum size of the finished product, then carefully shaped and refined by hand.
The lantern consists of six parts: the jewel finial, roof, fire box, middle support, pillar, and base.
The finished Oribe Stone Lantern is secured with adhesive and separates into two sections.
The outline is carefully shaped with a grinder so that the edges remain sharp and well defined.
The granite base gives the piece a distinctly Japanese atmosphere, making it an easy way to bring a sense of Japanese culture into your space.
Each piece is carefully crafted by skilled Japanese artisans. Please check the photos for details.
