This displayable fossil matrix has a well preserved, Smerdis macrurus.  It's Middle Oligocene in age and comes from Cereste, France. This fish measures 2 1/2" long and is on a matrix measuring 3" by 1 1/2". The matrix is approximately 7/16" thick.  Please note that the matrix has been repaired.
