The phantom masterpiece "THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY" was FLOYD's first concept work, but was never recorded in a studio. An upgraded master has been born for this iconic soundboard album. It will be released as a 2CD press that will permanently preserve the design of the much-talked-about "Prof Stoned".
●The highest peak update of the first concept work "THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY"
This work is engraved with the "September 17, 1969 Amsterdam performance". This is the stereo soundboard recording. This show is truly legendary. In the first place, "THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY" is a concept work that reconstructs the songs from "The Piper at Dawn" to "More" into a two-part composition of "THE MAN" and "THE JOURNEY". At the time, it was not officially recorded, and was only performed on the 1969 "THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY Tour". The soundboard from the 1969 Amsterdam performance has served as the "official substitute" for such a phantom work. The FM radio broadcast has produced many existing groups, and has literally continued to convey the phantom masterpiece as a substitute for the studio work.
When it becomes such a big classic, it is destined to be upgraded repeatedly over a long history (like the official work). In 2016, the official was realized with the box "THE EARLY YEARS 1965-1972", but since then, "masters beyond the official" have continued to be excavated. In particular, the pre-FM master tape of the broadcasting station "VPRO" repainted the standard at once. It is a master tape that goes back even further than the original broadcast master LP, and the "original sound" itself, which has never been converted into a physical groove, shocked collectors around the world. To date, the highest peak has been our "UNCUT CONCERTGEBOUW 1969", but this work is a new version that goes beyond that peak.
● Vivid sound of another dimension by "Prof Stoned"
The new master was created by the much talked about "Prof Stoned". The Beatles remix album caused a big stir, but in fact PINK FLOYD is also in his range. The other day, "THE PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN 2022 REMIXED" was very well received. He is a real researcher with a deep knowledge of FLOYD who can also work on official works. This work is "THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY" by such "Prof Stoned".
The upgrade of this work covers both quantity and quality. First of all, the quantity. It is 20 seconds longer than "UNCUT CONCERTGEBOUW 1969", which was the longest record up to now. The extended part is at the beginning, and the traditional Dutch DJ is longer. "UNCUT CONCERTGEBOUW 1969" also released the pre-FM master on CD without missing any of the pre-FM masters, but this extended part was restored from a different air check master. It reprints a historical DJ that was not even left in the pre-FM master.
However, the 20-second increase is just a bonus. The true awesomeness of this work is the sound that runs through the entire work. This is already an amazing masterpiece. The basis is not the official version, but the same "pre-FM master" as before, but the vividness is completely different. The vividness is completely different from the chirps of the birds at the beginning of the opening "Daybreak", and the clear contrast is wonderful. And the acoustic guitar arpeggio that flows there is beautiful and three-dimensional. The point here is that there is no sense of forced processing. The sound of the acoustic guitar is so fine that you can see each individual string, and the sound is so delicate that you can feel the vibration of the body. In fact, it has been digitally remastered, but the subtleties are not crushed and it is beautiful, so it sounds natural as if it was unprocessed.
Even after that, the sound is clear and reborn without any stagnation. In "THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY", even the small sound effects are important, and each one of them draws a landscape. Therefore, the "three-dimensional and delicate" sound of this work is directly connected to the reality of the concept world itself. It is not just a level of "a masterpiece with better sound", but "the expressiveness of the masterpiece itself has been improved".
This upgraded sound depicts PINK FLOYD's first masterpiece, which embarked on the concept road. As mentioned above, it is composed of two parts, "THE MAN" and "THE JOURNEY", and the previous repertoire is rearranged and performed.
