Another Mike B Classic

Mike B's newly excavated master series is shaking up the collector world. The latest work, PINK FLOYD's original cassette, will be released simultaneously in two types.

The second work is engraved with "Wembley performance on November 15, 1974". It is a legendary audience recording that can be said to be a symbol of the "British Winter Tour". 1974 was a time when the stage where new songs were developed through trial and error was extremely popular, but there were many live albums with similar titles despite the limited number. In order to understand the sound source situation around that, let's first take a look at the schedule of the activities at that time.

“1974 French Summer Tour”

・June 18-26: France (7 shows)

“1974 British Winter Tour”

・November 4-5: Edinburgh (2 shows)

・November 8-9: Newcastle (2 shows)

・November 14-17: Wembley (4 shows)←★here★

・November 19: Stoke-on-Trent show

・November 22: Cardiff show

・November 28-30: Liverpool (3 shows)

・December 3-5: Birmingham (3 shows)

・December 9-10: Manchester (2 shows)←※MANCHESTER 1974

・December 13-14: Bristol (2 shows)

This is PINK FLOYD in 1974. Divided into summer in France and winter in the UK, the records are concentrated on the four consecutive performances at the Empire Pool (now Wembley Arena). Let's zoom in on the schedule.

●Details of the four Wembley performances

・November 14: Empire Pool performance

・November 15: Empire Pool performance ←★This work★

・November 16: "WEMBLEY 1974 PRE FM MASTER: 3 SOURCE MIX"

・November 17: "WEMBLEY 1974 FINAL NIGHT: UNPROCESSED MASTER" and others

... and so on. The sound board was left on "November 15th/16th", and was also used in the 50th anniversary box set of "Madness" released the other day. This work is also "November 15th (2nd day)", but it is not a chopped sound board, but a full audience recording commonly known as "Recorder 3". This recording itself has been known since the 90s on the Great Dane label and is a beloved classic that has been included in our "WEMBLEY 1974 2ND NIGHT: UNPROCESSED MASTER", but it was actually a work by "Mike B". This time, the original cassette that reveals this fact has been miraculously unearthed. This work has been directly digitized.

[Legendary recording that has been upgraded to a different level]

And what is shocking is the sound, and the freshness of the original cassette is like something else. Please don't get me wrong, this recording has long been famous for its superb sound. As anyone who has experienced even one of the previously released groups will know, the extremely thick core and the direct feeling with zero distance are overwhelming, and it has long been considered the most likely candidate for the best masterpiece of 1974. Despite this, this work has been upgraded like something else.

What is most striking above all else is the beauty of the sound. The vintage feel of the conventional master is quickly wiped away, the silence depicts the darkness of the abyss, and the outline that stands out from there stands out clearly. Moreover, there is not even the slightest cloudiness in the sound, it is glossy and shiny. The three-dimensionality of each sound has also been greatly improved, and it is a sound that has both depth and brilliance like a black pearl.

[The pinnacle of spatial recording that conveys the true value of FLOYD sound]

It can be said that the listening response exceeds the aforementioned sound board. Of course, the sound board is so excellent that it is made official, but the ultra-tight feeling unique to the line is also lacking in breadth. In that respect, this work boasts the same strength and beauty as the official sound board, while also having a wide sense of space. And this is the true essence of the FLOYD sound. In the first place, they are a band that has progressed the acoustics of concert venues, and their live sound only shows its true value in on-site recordings. This work is also the highest peak of that.

Even so, it is wonderful. This is an upgraded sound with a beautiful shine. As with the conventional master, "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" starts with a squelch sound, so it is undoubtedly a familiar traditional recording, but the listening experience is completely different. I never thought that the famous recording was the work of "Mike B", and that the original cassette was so amazing (By the way, Paul and Linda McCartney also came to see this show, and after the show, they talked about their impressions with "Mike B". That's also a great episode). This is a super-famous album that conveys the serious performance, which was also officially recorded, with more beautiful sound than the official one. This is the birth of a magnificent press 2CD that will forever retain its brilliance.

★Legendary audience recording of the "Wembley performance on November 15, 1974". A classic recording that has been known for a long time, this is a masterpiece that was directly digitized from the original cassette by the popular recording artist "Mike B". The sound is an upgrade of a different class, boasting the same power and beauty as the official soundboard, while also having the wide sense of space that is characteristic of FLOYD. This is an absolute contender for the best live album of 1974.
