Light up feature does work - see pic in this listing which displays that. There is a pic in this listing that displays the figure disassembled. BE CAREFUL when disassembling this figure to insert batteries - it will completely fall apart when the screws are taken from the back of the figure. It is difficult reassembling this figure once batteries are inserted. The easiest way I found is to (1) fasten the two halves of the torso with the head inserted, then (2) while holding torso halves together insert one arm at a time allowing the halves of the torso to separate just enough to insert each of the arms, then (3) do the same thing for the legs one at a time, then (4) screw the screws into the back of the figure with a very small phillips screwdriver.
