1969 was a special year for THE WHO. They released the album "TOMMY," which they had started recording in the fall of the previous year. This concept album, which combined rock and opera, brought them to even greater heights as artists. This album is still famous today as a masterpiece of THE WHO, and as a rock masterpiece that has inspired many covers. This album has been made into a film, an orchestral work, and a musical, and THE WHO themselves have even performed live reenactments, and the songs on the album still occupy an important position in THE WHO's live performances today.

"TOMMY" was released in May 1969, but in between recordings, the band went on tour in January 1969, and in late April 1969, they performed songs from "TOMMY" that had already been unreleased. However, at this point, the set list had been omitted from a few songs that were considered inappropriate for the stage, but later they would reproduce almost all the songs on stage.

1969 was a special year not only for THE WHO, but also for rock. It was the year of important events that will be remembered for generations to come, such as the historic Woodstock Festival and the Isle of Wight Festival. By coincidence, THE WHO had just released "TOMMY" at that time, and THE WHO performed at both stages. Of course, "TOMMY" was the center of attention on that stage.

THE WHO's 1969 tour, which they hoped to hold with a special album in such a special era, was a careful tour of the UK from January to May. After that, they traveled back and forth between the US and the UK, spending most of the year on tour with a total of 125 performances. Thus, the long and fulfilling year of 1969 came to an end in Newcastle on December 19th. This work is a video recording of the performance at the London Coliseum on December 14th, 1969, just before the final performance. As an aside, this London Coliseum performance was the day before the final day of the tour and two months before the Live at Leeds.

The 1969 London Coliseum performance had only been partially known from chronological documentaries, and the full version had been eagerly awaited for a long time. The full version was released as a bonus disc in the documentary "Amazing Journey," but the audio was overly processed and difficult to listen to, and the original film was almost completely black, making it very difficult to watch. This work uses a different master from "Amazing Journey," and the audio has been properly remastered, the video has been digitally gain-boosted to the maximum, and it has been digitally remastered to make it easier to watch. Although the film grain is somewhat noticeable, the clear image finally makes it a work of art. In addition, all the fragments from the chronological documentary are included in the other sources.

This is a two-disc DVD set that records the London Coliseum performance on December 14, 1969 with high quality that surpasses conventional footage in both picture and sound quality. A permanently preserved, solid press edition with beautiful picture disc specifications.
