This is a beautiful antique cross stitch sampler, showing angels, flower vases, a birdhouse and an altar.

The sampler is Dutch and dated 1856. It is signed 'Johanna Robben'.

It measures approximately 17 x 17 inches or 43.5 x 43.5 cm, the fringe included.

The needlework has some loss of stitches, near the angels, the fruit baskets, the altar, the birdhouse and the borders, please see photos. Possibly the angels and the birdhouse were never finished. The cloth has some spots on it.
