𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒑𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒐 𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 between Yoruba and Semitic. This text sets out to examine what the author terms "multiple stage linguistics" relationship in Yoruba. Ancient Egyptian and Semitic. The task is, therefore, to demystify traditional explanations given to keywords in Yoruba religious discourse as belonging to folk etymology. The author then proceeds to demonstrate the importance of philology in the study of comparative religious and cultural concepts in the three language groups defined above. Key concepts such as 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐚, 𝐎𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐞, 𝐒𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫, 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐠𝐮𝐧 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡, 𝐈𝐟𝐚, 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 and 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝 are examined deeply both in their philological and cultural contexts. In all these investigations, the author unravels telling connections amongst the three designated linguistic groups.
