The Chafitz Applied Concepts Boris 2.5 Chess Computer is a cool and very vintage chess board with a built in computer that slides inside the board. Boris 2.5 is the last and strongest of the Boris engine versions. In 1978 Applied Concepts released the first Boris chess computer followed by the Boris Master in 1979 and the Boris Diplomats in 1979 in 1980. Finally in 1980 Chafitz and Applied Concepts made the Boris 2.5. The Boris 2.5 Chess Computer was primarily made for that version of the Boris engine, but it is modular so the Boris 2.5 Chess Computer can also run other chess engine modules designed for use in the same computer including the Morphy engine module available with this listing. The Boris 2.5 Chess Computer can even run reversi and backgammon modules. The Boris 2.5 Chess Computer is quite rare and old since it was made in 1980 and all units are over 40 years old! However, they were made very well and durable since this Boris 2.5 still works like new! Because of the sliding design, the Boris 2.5 Chess Computer is very compact and also the board is magnetic to keep the pieces from falling off when set up. Besides playing a game against Boris 2.5, you can also take back moves, set up a position, make it solve chess problems, switch sides, and play itself among other cool features.
This listing only comes with the pieces and Morphy module. This listing does not come with any other accessories. (Note: The kings and a white knight are not original.)
I'm a collector of self moving chess computers like the Fidelity Phantom 6124 and 6126 Chesster Chess Challengers. I have been intentionally building my collection up since June of 2022. By this point I have acquired all the models of self moving chess computers ever made in my collection which has branched out by now to include numerous models of non self moving chess computers as well. Most of these models I got good deals for on ebay or they were gifts but last fall I realized I'd spent a ton of money on my collection by that point. I have also bought a lot of self moving chess computers to resell because they came with various accessories I wanted for my collection, and I have some spare non self moving chess computer units over the last year to resell, and I am now reselling some of those to remake the financial cost of my collection. Please check out my other listings.
