The token features biblical scripts from the New Testament.

One side features a passage from the Book of Romans   ;  ' Be Not Deceived........

The other is a passage from the first  Book of Corinthians  ; ' Let Love Be Without.....'

These type of  Gospel tokens, sometimes known as 'Hard Times' tokens , were prevalent in the mid 19th Century USA .

The token (  29 mm diameter) is a little grubby, but all details are legible.

The token may be cleaned up but I have decided to leave it as it is.

 Fairly rare item.

A good find.
