LIMITED EDITION 1997 OF 4500

The Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series model AA33008 is a 1:72 scale diecast replica of the Vought F4U-1 Corsair, specifically representing the aircraft nicknamed "Marine's Dream," flown by 1st Lt. Edwin L. Olander of the U.S. Marine Corps squadron VMF-214, known as the "Black Sheep." This model commemorates Olander's service during World War II in the Solomon Islands in 1943.

Lt. Olander achieved several aerial victories in "Marine's Dream." On October 17, 1943, he shot down a Japanese Zero during a mission over Kahili. He secured additional victories on October 10 and 18, and in December 1943, totaling five confirmed kills and four probables, all against Zero fighters. The aircraft, bearing the Bureau Number 02576, was eventually damaged beyond repair in an accident at Torokina in December 1943.

The model features realistic panel lines, a detailed cockpit with a pilot figure, historically accurate markings, a rotating propeller, optional extended landing gear, and a display stand. It was released as a limited edition of 4,500 pieces worldwide.
