Installation Precautions
Before installation
1 Check whether the oil is clean and whether the recommended grade of oil is used; Note: The grade of oil used in winter and summer is different! If winter is 10W30, summer is 15W40.
2 Check that the engine cylinder head bore is not out of tolerance and that the maximum matching gap is not allowed to exceed 0.10 mm. note: it must be ensured that the standard size of the hydraulic tappet cannot be fitted into the large cylinder head bore!
3. Before mounting, place the hydraulic tappets in groups in an oil bath for at least 4 hours, then test the centre plunger repeatedly with your finger in the oil until it feels firm.
When installing
1 Try not to rotate the camshaft during installation, if this is unavoidable, it should be minimised as much as possible;.
2 Continuous rotation of the camshaft is less harmful than stopping of the camshaft;.
3 If continuous time rotation and stopping is unavoidable, the camshafts should also be kept in different directions.
4 Do not tilt or invert the engine during hydraulic tappet installation to prevent oil spillage into the hydraulic tappet chamber; 1.2.5 Do the refuelling procedure before starting the engine, as this reduces the chance of air entering the hydraulic tappets;
After installation (testing)
1 In some cases (repeated starting/cold starting/overhaul of the engine), the valve train produces an abnormal sound;
2 If the abnormal sound occurs during the first engine run (after overhaul), the engine must be run at a constant speed of 2500 RPM for approximately 4 minutes; 3 Then, allow the engine to idle for approximately 4 minutes.
3 Then, allow the engine to idle for approximately 30 seconds.
4 At this point, the abnormal sound disappears, indicating that the hydraulic tappet is fully vented. If the noise persists, repeat the above cycle.
5 This abnormal noise can be reduced by up to 90% after the first cycle.
6 In some cases, the above cycle can be repeated 5-6 times; 1.3.7 If the abnormal sound can be heard after repeating the cycle 5-6 times, the hydraulic tappet should be replaced.
