Vintage Midcentury Modernist Art Iliad Novelty Print Patchwork Circle Skirt
This vintage midcentury modernist art Iliad novelty print patchwork circle skirt dates from the 1950s. It is made of a colorful patchwork of novelty print cotton fabric panels, from midcentury modernist art created by an Associated American Artist Vincent Malta titled "Iliad" an abstract figural people horses mythical creatures of Homer's Odyssey, also other artist done Polynesian tapa, German folk costumed figures, flowers and atomic geometric shape designs. This unique one of a kind handmade very full circle skirt has 14 panels, a fitted waistband with side button closures and is fully lined in a fuchsia pink color cotton fabric underneath. The skirt measures 33 inches long, with a 26 inch waist and 90 inch hips. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of custom hand made midcentury modernist novelty print wearable art!
