Easy to apply unparalleled texture and shine outstanding durability and adhesion Plum blossoms have been loved in ancient China as one of the four noble children along with chrysanthemums bamboo and orchids. Plum blossoms are also closely related to Tenjin and most Tenjin shrines have plum trees planted in their precincts. Tenjin enshrines Sugawara no Michizane and it seems that the fact that Michizane loved the plum blossom is a good omen. There are two types of plum blossom crests: plum blossom crest and plum bowl crest. The former is a realistic design of plum blossoms while the latter is an abstract deformed plum bowl that simplifies the five-petal flower into a circle. Plum blossom crests are deeply related to Tenjin faith so they are considered to be common crests in Kinki and Kitakyushu. Many families used them but the Maeda family of Kaga used a design called the Kaga plum bowl which was particularly distinctive. Maeda Toshiie Maeda Keiji
