Original Trenton Crackers or OTC were first made in Trenton, NJ in 1848 by Ezekiel Pullen. They were made to be used in oyster stew and were served in bowls such as this on the bar or at the dining table. They were so popular in Trenton that eventually they were sold nationwide.

The bowl was manufactured circa 1878-1882 according to the backstamp. Printed in red is N.J.P. Co, Trenton, N.J. Impressed (upside down) is N.J.P.Co. Vitreo. It is heavy for its size.

The bowl measures approx. 8 1/4 by 6 inches and stands  just under 2 inches tall. No chips or cracks but there is moderate to heavy utensil use in the well and some wear to the green lettering which reads
