The 115 series DC electric multiple units were built by Nippon Sharyo, Kisha Seizo, Kawasaki, Kinki Sharyo, and Hitachi between 1963 and 1983, totaling 1921 cars.

After the privatization of Japan National Railways, it was taken over by JR East, JR Tokai, and JR West.

This model reproduces the four-car Yokosuka paint scheme of the 115-800 Series, which was introduced in 1966 for the purpose of converting the Chuo East Line to regular train service.
