This is a beautifully hand painted Japanese porcelain blue and white plate from the 19th Century.
It has a very neatly cut foot rim and a white glaze having a blue tinge.
The plate is well hand painted, front and back, in a free flowing style, characteristic of the period, in varying shades of a clear cobalt blue. The design features a floral pattern in the centre, surrounded by an enlarged nature pattern on the scalloped rim.
