Last year, I happened to receive advice on constructing a tea garden from a certain hermitage master. Seeking fundamental knowledge for the construction and aiming to deepen my studies, I visited renowned tea houses and gardens again, perused old books, and drafted several plans, engaging in the actual tea garden construction. This entire text is a compilation and somewhat systematic arrangement of those drafts. It is not intended to be a perfect guide to tea gardens, but with the recent increase in interest in cultural and historical gardens, and the incorporation of Japanese tea garden forms in landscaping abroad, I decided to publish this work without dwelling too much on my limited knowledge, as a counterpart to my brief work on "Tea Room Architecture."
While this book is centered around text, it includes a substantial 48-page section of photographs at the beginning.
